New York City - John's concert
Our schedule now is to have breakfast and dinner with John each day while we're here, otherwise we are on our own to play tourist in the Big Apple. John looks great and the first place he took us was to Carnegie Hall where their group (Alarm Will Sound) already has a coming attraction poster up on the building. Feb. 16th, 2006 for those doing advance planning.
View from Central Park, close to our hotel
From the Brooklyn Bridge, view of downdown and financial district
Brooklyn Bridge from South Street Seaport
A couple of touristas in Central Park, a great place to read the Times on a Sunday morning
So why not walk the Bridge, it was a nice day, we had a couple 1000 of our best friends, lots of time ......
The Allen Room, Rose Hall at Lincoln Center is located in the Time Warner Building, Columbus Circle (it's the one above the lighted entrance). Alarm Will Sound was part of the Lincoln Center Jazz Festival (not sure why jazz applies but....??). The hall seats about 500 and as the audience views the performance, they also look out over Central Park and the night skyline ... pretty cool!
After the performance ... John (holding the pink shirt), with his cousin Ethan and Ethan's friend Crystie). The guys that are doing their CD rented a bar for a celebration and they (not Cindy & I) partied most of the night.
John's cousin (Ethan) has an apartment just 2 blocks from Columbus Circle (where the performance was) and some of his friends and his Aunt Tam & Uncle Jim cooked up a pre concert meal for everyone. John even made it by for a quick bite before running off to the venue.
Cindy and I are now in Portland, Maine visiting good friends, Dave and Veda Cooper, from Austin who have a beautiful place right on the bay overlooking the harbor. A couple of nights of eating fresh lobster and seafood will certainly prepare us for the next leg of the trip up into the Canadian Maritimes.
